I have been selected as one of fifteen lighting designers worldwide to present my work as an Emerging Designer at the World Stage Design Expo 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan from July 1 until July 10, 2017. I will be exhibiting my lighting design for A Lesson Before Dying at the Clarence Brown Theatre.
A Lesson Before Dying throws focus to contemporary issues such as racial injustices in the American Judicial System, the inadequacy of rural education, community, heritage, and identity. I am thrilled to be able to present this work and its message to an international audience.
At the beginning of April I began collecting funds to help offset the cost of travel, lodging, board, and exhibition supplies for this trip. The University of Tennessee offered me the opportunity to crowd-source funding using their donation platform, VolStarter. As of April 28, 2017, my project has been fully funded. Thank you to all of you who helped me reach my goal. I cannot wait to share my trip with you.
Through this blog I plan to keep you all up to date on the latest phases of my exhibition. From conception to implementation, the arrival and the departure, you will be able to find updates here.
Until next time,
